An opportunity has arisen within our Service Delivery Support Department for an Equipment Team Support Officer – Guidance and Risk Assessment based at HQ Eyre Street in Sheffield, for a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
The overall purpose of the role will be to work as part of the Equipment Team to maintain, monitor, improve and implement necessary action to ensure continuity of an effective emergency response service.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will write, publish and maintain all Equipment Manuals, Risk Assessments and Standard Test Schedules to support the use and maintenance of front line fire and rescue equipment.
In this post you will be required to ensure that relationships are maintained with suppliers of technical services and manufacturers of equipment. You will also be asked to provide advice and support on projects and on aspects of operational equipment within Technical Services to other members of the team and to other appropriate members of staff.
You will be expected to respond to emails on behalf of the Technical Services Manager in relation to equipment defects, maintenance and other such queries, and to assist the Technical Services administration staff in there day to day duties during busy periods.
To be considered for this role you will need to hold or be willing to work towards the IOSH qualification and have an understanding of Health Safety/Risk Assessments in relation to work equipment.
You must possess the ability to identify and implement recommendations arising from the Equipment Tracking system and process data, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures (i.e. data protection). To make the necessary arrangements for either the repair, replacement, maintenance or purchase of operational equipment to ensure frontline Firefighting appliances are fully equipped.
